5-04 Why don’t I receive any (more) reminder/sound?

Android


If you generally do not receive notifications or these are only sent when the app is open, this is mainly due to the following wrong settings:

In order to reliably receive notifications on your Android device, you must allow mediteo to run in the background. This permission is requested the first time the app is opened. Depending on the brand of your Android device, different settings may be required to enable you to receive notifications regularly. Below you will find a list of the most common device brands. Please note that the instructions described here may change over time. For the latest information, please refer to the producer’s instructions for your device.


Huawei


  • Allow mediteo to send reminders: Device settings → Notifications → mediteo →
    • Allow notifications → on
    • Notification type → Allow notifications → on
    •  Notification type → Banner → on
    •  Notification type → Lock screen notifications → on
  • Allow mediteo to run in the background: Device settings → Battery → App launch → mediteo → off → Manage manually
    • Auto-launch → on
    • Secondary launch → on
    • Run in background → on
  • Deactivate battery optimization for mediteo: Device settings → Apps → Settings → Special app access → Ignore battery optimization → mediteo → Allow
  • Activate background data for mediteo: Device  settings → Apps → mediteo → Data usage → Background data → on
  • Deactivate data saving for mediteo: Device settings → Wireless & networks → Data saver → mediteo → off
  • Deactivate “Do not disturb”: Device settings → Sounds & Vibration → Do not disturb → off


For sound:

  • Enable sound for reminders from mediteo: more → Settings → Reminders → Notification sound → Adjust: Click on the category whose sound you want to hear, e.g. “Reminders”. Make sure that it is “on” and that the importance is set on “Urgent” or “High”. Lastly, check if a sound is selected under “Sound”. For older versions of mediteo: more → Settings → Reminders → Notification sound → on
  • Set ringing and notification tones loud enough in device settings and disable “Silent”.


Samsung


  • Allow mediteo to send reminders: Device settings → Notifications → mediteo → on
  • Deactivate battery optimization for mediteo:
    • Device settings → Battery and device care → Battery → Background usage limits → Never sleeping apps → Add mediteo → Add
    • Device settings  → Apps → Three dots menu top right  → Special access → Optimise battery usage → mediteo → off
  • Activate background data usage for mediteo:  Device settings → Apps → mediteo  → Mobile data → Allow background data usage → on
  • Deactivate data saving for mediteo: Device settings → Apps → mediteo → Mobile data → Allow data usage while Data saver is on → off
  • Deactivate “Do not disturb”: Device settings → Sounds & Vibration → Do not disturb → off


For sound:

  • Enable sound for reminders from mediteo: More → Settings → Reminders → Notification sound → Adjust: Click on the category whose sound you want to hear, e.g. “Reminders”. Make sure that it is “on” and that the importance is set on “Urgent” or “High”. Lastly, check if a sound is selected under “Sound”. For older versions of mediteo: more → Settings → Reminders → Notification sound → on
  • Set ringtones and notification tones loud enough in device settings and disable “Silent”.


Xiaomi (VARIATIONS ARE POSSIBLE)


  • Allow mediteo to send reminders: Device settings → Notifications → mediteo → on
  • Deactivate battery optimization for mediteo:
  • Device settings → Apps → Permissions  → Autostart → mediteo →  on
  • Device settings → Battery and performance → Battery →  Battery Optimization →  mediteo → No restrictions
  • Activate background data usage for mediteo: Device Security → Data usage → Data usage stats → mediteo → Allow background data usage → on
  • Deactivate data saving for mediteo: Device settings → Apps → Manage apps → mediteo → Restrict data usage → off
  • Deactivate “Do not disturb”: Device settings → Sounds & Vibration → Silent mode/Do not disturb → off


For sound:

  • Enable sound for reminders from mediteo: More → Settings → Reminders → Notification sound → Adjust: Click on the category whose sound you want to hear, e.g. “Reminders”. Check if a sound is selected under “Sound”. For older versions of mediteo: more → Settings → Reminders → Notification sound → on
  • Set ringtones and notification tones loud enough in the device settings and disable “Silent”.


Independently of device brand:


  • Allow mediteo to send reminders: Android settings → Notifications → App settings → All apps → mediteo → on
  • Deactivate battery optimization for mediteo: Android settings → Apps & Notifications → Expand → Special app access → Optimize battery usage → All apps → mediteo →  off
  • Activate background data for mediteo: Android settings → Wireless & networks → Mobile data → App data usage → mediteo → Background data usage → on
  • Deactivate data saving for mediteo: Device settings → Network and Internet → Data saver Unrestricted data → mediteo → on
  • Deactivate “Do not disturb”: Android settings → Sounds & Vibration → Do not disturb → off


For sound:

  • Enable sound for reminders from mediteo: More → Settings → Reminders → Notification sound → Adjust: Click on the category whose sound you want to hear, e.g. “Reminders”. Make sure that “Show notifications” is on and that “Standard” is selected.
  • For older versions of mediteo: more → Settings → Reminders → Notification sound → on
  • Set ringtones and notification tones loud enough in Android settings and disable “Silent”.


iOS


  • Allow mediteo to send notification:  iOS settings → mediteo → Notifications → Allow notifications → On 
  • Allow mediteo to send notifications always and immediately: iOS settings → mediteo → Notifications → Allow Critical Alerts → On 
  • Activate the critical alerts in mediteo:  More → Settings → Reminders → Critical alerts → On
  • Deactivate “Do not disturb” in the iOS settings

For sound:

  • Activate the sound in the mediteo settings: More → Settings → Reminders → Sound for notifications → On
  • Turn ringtone and notification sounds in the iOS settings loud enough and deactivate “Silent mode” (toggle button on the side of the device).
