Your data protection is our top priority and core value. Your data is only transmitted in encrypted and anonymized form to our servers, so that it is not possible for us to associate a user with specific medication from our database. If you have any other questions about data security, do not hesitate to contact [email protected] and we will be happy to help you.

For data protection reasons, all mediteo data are encrypted. Thus, most backup methods will not work.

Android: System-specific or Google backups cannot restore mediteo’s medical data! Please use a CGM LIFE account with a backup.

iOS:  iCloud backups cannot restore mediteo’s medical data! Please use a CGM LIFE account with a backup or the encrypted iTunes backup. When using iTunes, please make sure to set up a Touch ID or PassCode or to use a password when doing a backup. In accordance to Apple’s security measures, the encryption key to restore our medical data will otherwise not be transferred.

Set up a backup with a CGM LIFE account

To learn how to set up a backup with a CGM LIFE account and restore data on another smartphone, refer to the section “CGM LIFE and AMK” → “How can I create a backup in my account/restore a backup from my account?”

Based on the age you entered in your profile and on recommendations from European guidelines, we set up orientation areas for blood pressure. These are automatically shown on “My Diary” → Blood pressure diagram. Since there are several factors which can play a role, these areas can differ from your actual target value. The adjustment of blood pressure should always take place individually with your doctor. You will find more information on mediteo m+ by clicking on the banner over the graph.

3. Account & Privacy (mediteo profile, CGM LIFE, AMK) (11)

CGM is an electronic health record, in which your medical data is saved cryptographically, so that only you can access it.

The user is not required to create a specific mediteo account, but can use mediteo in combination with this electronic health record.

The advantage of connecting mediteo with your CGM LIFE account is that medication prescribed by participating doctors or handed out by participating pharmacists is directly shown in mediteo, so that it takes just one click to set up the corresponding reminders. In addition, you can keep track of your medication on several devices and access your data in case you lose your device or buy a new one – all this without any compromise on your privac

To do this, log in with your AMK credentials on the Welcome page or Profile page. No, you neither have to create an account, nor specify any personal data in your profile. The profile section allows you however to personalize mediteo. An account has also further advantages such as synchronization and backup.

In both cases, no personal data from your account or profile will of course be stored in mediteo.

If you are logged in with an account (CGM LIFE or AMK), the synchronization takes place automatically at regular intervals or whenever you restart mediteo. You can also manually start the synchronization (on the page Treatments → Scroll all the way to the top → Pull down to refresh).

Please note that only treatments, profile and network can currently be synchronized. All personal data about intakes and measurements will remain on the device. We suggest that you pick a device on which you manage your intakes and measurements.

You cannot directly change your password in mediteo. You can change it directly on CGM LIFE (https://de.cgmlife.com/accountportal/login).If you forgot your password you can also reset it there. If however you had not created a SUPER-PIN, no one will be able to access the data for security reasons and you will at most be able to reset the whole account.

If you are not kept signed in, this is due to one of these two reasons:

  • Your device is not protected: for security reasons we cannot save your password. You should therefore protect your device with password, pattern, Touch ID, Face ID or similar.
  • You use two-factor authentication for your CGM LIFE Account: for security reasons we cannot save the second factor. It is therefore currently recommended to log out and only log in temporarily for your synchronization.

If you are generally unable to log in, this may be due to several reasons:

  • Your account creation has not been completed. You should have received an email to complete the process.
  • Your password is wrong. Verify directly on CGM if you can log in there (https://de.cgmlife.com/accountportal/login) and reset the password if necessary.
  • You have no internet connection. Please restore it.
  • CGM LIFE is temporarily unavailable. Should this be the case for longer and none of the reasons above apply, please contact [email protected].

If the synchronization always fails, this may be due to several reasons:

  • Your password is stored incorrectly or has been changed. Log out once and log in again.
  • You have no internet connection. Please restore it.
  • You have data in your account which mediteo cannot read. Verify if you can log in on our web application (https://app.mediteo.com/en/login). If it works on there, please contact [email protected].

mediteo allows you to add any kind of treatment. Whether prescribed medication or a simple reminder to drink enough water – this is completely up to you. For the medication saved in our database, we set up an automatic recognition. As soon as you type the name of the medication you want to add, the available hits will be suggested, so that you can easily and quickly choose the right one. You can also of course add your own treatments, if for example they are not available in the database or if they require individual specifications.

There are no limits to the number of treatments you can add.

Should you receive no suggestions when typing the name of your medication, you have the possibility to add the medication manually. To do this, tap on the option “Add it anyway”, which will directly appear below the search bar. You can also contact us at [email protected] if your medication or the required settings for it are not available. Please note however that we currently have only German and Italian medication in our database.

Since the 1st October 2016 you are entitled to a federal medication plan if you take or use at least three treatments at the same time, the use of which is intended for a period of at least 28 days. The medication plan can be handed out to you from your doctor or pharmacist. It should contain all treatments available on prescription and self-medication. Active substances, dosage, reason for intake, and other indications about the intake are specified there as well.

Moreover, a 2D-bar code is displayed on the printed medication plan. You can scan it in mediteo and transfer all of your treatments safely and easily to the app.

mediteo can read the 2D-Barcode on your Bundesmedikationsplan to transfer your data automatically. Versions up to v2.6. are supported.

Add:

  • Treatments → “Plus” symbol (iOS top right, Android bottom right) → Scan barcode → Scan BMP → Add

Verify:

  • Treatments → BMP → Tap on BMP

Edit/Stop/Delete:

  • It is not directly possible to change or delete the BMP itself. Of course you can edit or stop the treatments. The BMP itself (and the 2D-Barcode) will however not be modified.
  • If you receive a new BMP you have to stop the treatments from the old one, since there is no connection between BMPs. This means that treatments will appear twice in your list if you don’t stop the medication of the old version.

  • Red banner “Input required”: you have treatments whose data are incomplete or have been modified.
→ Tap on the banner to view it and complete the missing information or confirm the changes.
  • Yellow symbol “Duplicate”: you have at least another treatment with a different active substance but the same class of active substance in your list.
  • Red symbol “Duplicate”: you have at least another treatment with the same active substance in your list.
→ With these symbols, mediteo wants to warn about duplicate medication. Ask your doctor of pharmacist whether these warnings could be relevant for you!
  • Red symbol “Refill”: the remaining supply of this treatment is running low.
→ Refill your supply and enter this information on mediteo in the refill reminder tab of the medication.

5. Reminder & Notifications (8)

mediteo sends you different reminders depending on different settings, which open the app on the right page when you tap on it. Moreover, most of the reminders offer direct actions which are frequently used. You can go to these direct actions by swiping the reminder to the left (iOS) or to the bottom (Android).

Intake reminder:

  • For every intake on the Daily you will receive a reminder at the set time. If you do not confirm the reminder within 10 minutes, you will receive a second reminder once.
  • You can confirm the intake directly through direct action or you can postpone it through the snooze function.

Refill reminder:

  • If you are monitoring your supply, you will receive a reminder when a medication supply is running low. If you do not refill the medication or turn off the reminder, you will receive a reminder again on the following day.
  • You can open the current supply through direct action or temporarily turn off further reminders for that supply.

Appointment reminder:

  • You will receive a reminder in advance for every appointment on your Daily. You will set the exact time for every appointment.

Measurement reminder:

  • For every measurement on the Daily you will receive a reminder at the set time. If you do not confirm the reminder within ten minutes, you will receive a second reminder once.
  • Available on iOS only starting from version 4.3.0. Not available on Android.

Updates:

  • We will send this kind of notifications regarding important subjects, such as for example a security update which you should promptly activate on mediteo.

No, all reminders are stored on mediteo. As long as you granted mediteo the access to your notifications (iOS) or the authorization to ignore your battery optimization (Android), you will also receive reminders when the app is closed or you are not connected to the internet.

If you think you receive too many reminders, check the following settings:

  • If you do not react to the first reminder, you will receive another one 10 minutes later. This way we want to help you to always remember your daily plan on time.
  • If you always completely close mediteo (instead of only letting the app run in the background), it is possible that the second reminder had not been removed fast enough and therefore appears 10 minutes later, even though you had already reacted to the first reminder.
  • If you receive reminders about treatments which are not planned, verify whether they are marked on the daily. It may be possible that you snoozed or added them or that the therapy plan was set up incorrectly.

If you think you do not receive enough reminders, check the following settings:

  • Depending on different system settings (not on mediteo), reminders are grouped together. Then you will only be shown a stack.
  • If you always only close mediteo completely (instead of letting the app run in the background) and never open it, it may be possible that reminders cannot be planned on time.
  • Depending on system settings (not on mediteo), reminders are removed from the notification center when you open mediteo.
  • If you do not always receive intake reminders which are planned, please verify whether they are marked on the Daily. It may be possible that you snoozed or removed them or that the therapy plan was set up incorrectly.

If none of the above-mentioned steps result in functioning reminders, do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected].

If you generally do not receive reminders or these are only sent when the app is open, this is mainly due to the following wrong settings:

iOS

  • Allow reminders on mediteo. You can do this in the iOS settings under mediteo.
  • Deactivate “Do not disturb” in the iOS settings.
  • For sound: activate it in mediteo in the settings.
  • For sound: turn ringtone and notification sounds in the iOS settings loud enough and deactivate “Silent mode” (toggle button on the side of the device).

Android

Battery Optimization causes notification to not always work. Should you use a Samsung or Huawei, this is probably the reason. Unfortunately these systems are very different, so that we cannot describe exactly where the option is located. Important: on every Android there are at least 2 settings, and mostly some which cannot be managed in mediteo. Not all these steps have to apply for your Android:

  • Allow mediteo to send reminders. To do this, search for mediteo in the Android settings.
  • Allow mediteo to run in the background. Search in the battery settings of the Android settings for “Allow in the background” or “Always allow”.
  • Deactivate battery optimization for mediteo. Search in the Android settings for “Battery performance optimization” or “Battery optimization”
  • Deactivate data saving for mediteo. Search in the Android settings for “Unlimited data access” or “Data saving mode”.
  • Deactivate “Do not disturb” in the Android settings.
  • For sound: activate it on mediteo under settings.
  • For sound: turn ringtone and notification sounds loud enough in the Android settings and deactivate “Silent mode”

Specifically for Samsung:

  • Check Autostart Management (mediteo should be active).
  • Check Battery Performance Optimization in the battery settings (mediteo should be deactivated).
  • Check Unsupervised Apps in the battery settings (mediteo should be listed there).

Specifically for Huawei:

  • Check Manage automatically in the battery or start settings (mediteo should be deactivated)
  • Check Protected App in the battery or energy settings (mediteo should be active)
  • Check App optimization in the apps settings (mediteo should ignore this)

Specifically for Xiaomi:

  • Check Autostart (mediteo should be active)
  • Check Energy Saving Mode in the apps settings (mediteo should be deactivated)
  • Check Use adaptive Battery in the battery settings (mediteo should be deactivated)

If none of the above-mentioned steps result in functioning reminders, do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected].

mediteo shows by default the names of the medication in the reminder so that you save time and effort. This way you will receive all information without having to open the app. If you are more concerned about privacy, you can of course customize this:

Show/Hide:

mediteo uses a short, discreet standard sound for all reminders. You can however customize this.

Activate/Deactivate:

  • More → Settings → Sound for notifications on/off

Change (sound):

  • More → Settings → Ringtone → Choose new ringtone

Change (volume):

  • The volume is not managed by mediteo, it is controlled by your smartphone.
  • Therefore pay attention not to put your phone on silent mode or to activate the Silent or Do not disturb mode

mediteo does not currently offer any specific app for Smart Watches. You can however receive reminder on the AppleWatch and directly confirm your intake. You have to grant the authorizations on your WatchApp, not on mediteo. (More information about this on the Apple website https://support.apple.com/guide/watch/welcome/watchos

6. Daily/Statistics (4)

Starting from version 3.0.0, mediteo identifies your intakes automatically as “missed” with a red exclamation point if you do not mark them as “taken” or “skipped” within an hour of the set intake time. This helps you maintain a clear overview on which treatments you took and which you did not. In case you took your medication and only forgot to log this on mediteo, you can of course confirm missed intakes afterwards by tapping on the exclamation mark. This way you can specify when you took your medication.

mediteo summarizes for you the most important statistics directly on your Daily:

  • Weekly success: you can see how many intakes you took according to plan in the last seven days (from yesterday).
  • Today’s goal: you can see how many intakes are still planned for today or which one were forgotten, skipped or taken.
  • Punctuality: you can see how many intakes you took today within +/- 1 h from your plan.
  • Colors on the calendar: you can see if you took all intakes (green) or forgot all intakes (red) on a specific day. A mix of them or skipped intakes (yellow) will also be shown.

We summarize all intakes which are due at the same time. This gives you a better overview and you can select all intakes with a click to mark these all e.g. as taken or to postpone their intake with the Snooze function. As an alternative, you can of course also handle every intake individually by tapping on the corresponding intake card.

Through connection to several German databases, we are able to offer you a full-scale contact search in the health sector. Should your doctor or pharmacy be missing, you can add them through “Add anyway”. The data may vary due to relocations, personnel changes or organizational changes. Please contact us at [email protected] if your contact is currently no longer in the database.
