# How can I transfer my data to a new smartphone?

For data protection reasons, all data from mediteo is stored in encrypted form on your device.

**Android**: System-specific or Google backups cannot restore mediteo’s medical data! You should therefore use the "local backup" function on mediteo or a CLICKDOC Account with an online backup.

**iOS:**iCloud backups cannot restore mediteo’s medical data! When using iTunes backups, please make sure to **set up Touch ID or PassCode or use a password on your iPhone.** In accordance to Apple’s security measures, the encryption key to restore our medical data will otherwise not be transferred.

**Create a local backup in mediteo or an online backup with a CLICKDOC Account**

To learn how to use the "local backup" function on mediteo or how to set up a backup with your CLICKDOC Account, please refer to the section “Account & Privacy" → "[How can I create/restore a backup?](https://www.mediteo.com/en/faq/how-can-i-create-restore-a-backup/)".
